BERLIN PART 1

Voih, nyt se on ohi. Viikko Berliinissä oli mieltsin hauskaa aikaa, ja nyt tietsikka on jo pullollaan valokuvia. En ottanut mitään loistokuva, mutta sain kyllä monia tosi kivoja. Tässä tulee siis maanantain ohjelma, joka oli melko lyhyt kun olimme siellä vain puoli päivää.

It's over now. The week in Berlin was amazing, the computer is filled with pictures. Here is our Monday in Berlin in pics. We were just the half day there, so we had not that much time.





Me tultiin Berliiniin joskus keskipäivällä. Heti käytyämme hotellilla, me lähdettiin Potsdamer Platzille syömään ja varaamaan illaksi liput Thomas Quasthoffin konserttiin. Söimme ihanassa ravintolassa nimeltään "Vapiano" (Potsdamer Platz 5 10785 Berlin). Sieltä saa erinomaista pastaa ja salaattia! Suosittelen. Siellä on itsepalvelu, ja erikseen tiskit pasta-, salaatti- ja pizzatilauksille.

Länsi on omasta mielestäni paljon tylsempää aluetta kuin Itä-Berliini. Siellä talot ovat isoja ja korkeita perus suurkaupunkitaloja. Idässä monet talot ovat vanhoja ja ränsistyneitä ja täynnä graffiteja.

Right after stopping by the hotel, we went to Potsdammer Platz and ate in a very good restaurang, "Vapiano" (Potsdamer Platz 5 10785 Berlin). It was Italian food, and at least the pasta and salad were delicious!

I personally like more the East side than the West side of Berlin. The Vest side is filled with new big and high buildings, while the East side is filled with old and decayed houses with graffities.



Me käppäiltiin juutalaisten muistomerkille ja kuvailtiin aika paljon. Mulla ei nyt ole mitään kuvia musta, kun ne on kaikki Idan kameralla. Me vaihdetaan varmaan muistikortit maanantaina niin saadaan toistemme kuvat.

We walked to the Jewish memorial and took a lot of pictures. I don't have any pictures of me, they are all on Ida's camera. I'll get them soon.



Tässä superhieno Brandenburgin portti joka oli just siinä rajan kohdalla mistä Berliin jakautui kahtia aikanaan. Myös Potsdamer Plazt oli siinä rajalla. Mun mielestä portti on kyllä yks niistä nähtävyyksistä Berliinissä jotka pitää nähdä.

The beautiful Brandenburg's gate is just there where Berlin was divided at that time. Potsdamer Platz was allso right on the border. They are both attractions which you have to see if you travel to Berlin.

Kun nyt nähtävyyksistä jo innostuttiin, päätettiin mennä turistibussilla kiertoajelulle. Siellä istui suloiset saksalaiset harmaahiuksiset rillipäävanhukset. Me näimme ajelulla mm. eläintarhan, tv-tornin, paloja Berliinin muurista, Check Point Charlien, saksalaisen oopperatalon ja pohjoismaiden yhteisen suurlähetystöalueen.

Maanantaina oli vielä ihan hieno ilma niin Tv-tornikin välkkyi ilta-auringossa. Me ei menty torniin ylös, käytiin kyllä sen juurella.

Ehdittiin me vähän shoppaillakin kiertoajelun jälkeen. Mutta niihin palaan myöhemmin!

When we already got excited of the attractions, we decided to take an excursion with a tourist bus. We saw many of the  most common attractions in a quite short time. For example the zoo, the tv-tower, peaces of the Berlin wall, Check Point Charlie, the Deusche Opera and the Nordic embassy compound.

We shopped a little after the bus ride, but more of that later!

Shoppailun jälkeen me mentiin sinne Thomas Quasthoffin jazz-konserttiin, joka oli kyllä tosi hyvä. Thomas mies ihan mahtavalla lauluäänellä. Se lauloi ihani biisejä, mm. muutamia John Lennonin biisejä.

Quasthoff on yksi niistä ihmisestä jotka syntyivät  60-luvulla vammaisina äitien viallisten kipulääkkeiden takia. Tosi monet äidit söivät niitä lääkkeitä jotka auttoivat pahoinvointiin raskauden aikana, ja silloin syntyi tosi paljon enemmän vammasia vauvoja. Asiaa tutkittiin, ja lopulta kävi ilmi että kaikki oli lääkkeiden syytä. Se jotenkin pysäytti lasten kehityksen. Ihan kauheeta.

After shopping we went to Thomas Quasthof's jazz-concert, wich was really good! Thomas is a little disabled mad with an amazing singing voice. He is one of the people who where born as disabled children in 60's because of the medicine for pregnant mothers. Many mothers had that medicine when they were prengnant. Suddenly many disabled children were born and people started to wonder why. At last it became apparent that it was because of the medicine. The medicine stopped the children's development in some way. It's horrible.

Konsertin jälkeen me mentiin kotiin U-bahnilla ja käveltiin "Jurine"-hotellille joka sijaitsi Schwedter Strassella. Hotelli oli ihan ok. Ei me siellä paljon oikeestaan oltukaan. Kunhan nukuttiin.

Iltakuvista tuli vähän tällasia suttusia, mutta silti niissä on jotenkin ihana iltakaupunki-tunnelma.

After the concert we took the "U-bahn" to our hotel, Jurine, which is on Schwedter Strasse. The hotel was okey. Actually we were not that much there. Just slept.
